As an experienced approved contractor, we provide customers with the stringent levels of inspection and reporting demanded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in respect of the appropriate Act.

What is it?

A regime to periodically inspect and test all electrical installations, and to identify any deficiencies and safety issues against current statutory H&S documents and relevant British Standards and Codes of Practice.

An Equiptest engineer’s inspection will reveal any overloaded circuits or equipment, find any shock risks or fire hazards, spot defective electrical work, reveal lack of circuit protective conductor or bonding, and give a general overview of the installation.

Why do I need it?

Quite simply, faulty fixed electrical installations present a risk of death. Our commitment is to confirm that you have adequate circuit protective conductors and bonding, suitable switchgear and control gear, appropriate wiring systems, residual current devices for electrical equipment used outdoors, all necessary notices and identification, and a clear understanding of any implications around change of use.

What is the legal requirement?

The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), state that by LAW, an employer must take precautions against the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in work activities. You must meet the requirements of the latest BS7671 edition along with Current IEE Wiring Regulations and guidance notes.

Who does it apply to?

All commercial, industrial, and retail environments, and where the premises are available to the public.
